Tell us your love story!
Mike and I met at a local bar, but were both in other relationships at the time. We were friends for about four years before the “stars aligned” and we were both open to a new relationship. We dated for about six years before we got married.
How did he propose?
It was my 30 birthday! We went to our favorite steakhouse in Chicago, Bavette’s Bar and Boeuf. I was not expecting anything, but when we ordered dessert the chocolate cream pie arrived at the table with a sparkler and my grandmother’s wedding ring. Later, we arrived home to all of our friends and family to tell them the great news.
How did you choose the venue?
Mike is into bourbon and I am a sucker for a beautiful location steeped in rich history. Buffalo Trace Distillery hit all of those marks!
How long were you engaged?
18 Months
What elements were most important for your wedding day to you?
I kept saying that I wanted the day to feel like a warm hug. The ceremony and the food were incredible! Mike and I used a Mad Libs template for our vows and it was perfection.
What advice would you give to other brides?
Take a step back to appreciate what is really happening that day! Also, bring your fiancé into the planning process as much possible.
