Tell us your love story.
Christopher and I met at Eastern Kentucky University during our undergraduate studies. We bonded over our love of music, similar upbringings and our agreement on the tempo we would like to take in life. We dated for five and a half years, so when he proposed we already had a strong foundation and understanding of each other.
How did he propose?
I knew I wanted to marry him after we had been together for a couple of years. Two years into the relationship I started making dreamy requests of how I wanted him to pop the question. My dream engagement included him getting down on one knee in front of our families, surprising me with my dream ring and capturing the entire moment on camera. He managed to orchestrate a proposal with all of these elements without a hitch!
How did you choose your venue?
We needed a venue that could comfortably host 150 guests, the acoustics for a five-piece band, and provide the Derby Day spirit we were looking for. The Round Barn Stable of Memories is a historical and charming venue that met our expectations perfectly.
How long were you engaged?
14 Months
What elements were most important for your wedding day to you?
The most important aspect to me was making sure that the food, music and atmosphere was comfortable for everyone. The elegant Derby theme was also very important to us, so we put a lot of trust into our wedding planner to bring our concept to life.
What advice would you give to other brides?
Do not skimp on your photographer or videographer because they should be a top priority.The photos and videos of the wedding day will be seen many times throughout the years so you want to make sure they are beautiful. Also, allow others to take the reins on certain details so you can focus on the most important part of your wedding, marrying the love of your life!
