Love story!
We met one day at a tennis cardio class, so we joke our relationship formed through “The Game of Love”! Our friendship formed from there, to dating (for 8 years), engaged to husband and wife!
How did he propose?
We always set time to have Christmas celebration as just the two of us to open each other’s gifts. He presented me with a large box, I opened it to find another wrapped box. I continued to open box after box until I got to a ring box. He got down on one knead asked me to be his wife. It was perfect!
How did you choose your venue?
Alexander is Greek Orthodox, and my best friend’s husband is the priest here in Lexington. Naturally I wanted “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” for the ceremony. Reception, we met Linda at the Hilary J. Boone Center and she was amazing. Alex and my parents graduated from UK and Hilary Boone was tennis player at the university. We knew this was it.
What elements were most important for your wedding day to you?
I chose a reception venue that was more of a one stop shop. My dress. Wonderful food. Seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces. Knowing everyone truly had a good time. Capturing the moment through picture and video. Our first look so that way we could focus on just each other. And the Greek ceremony was so special.
What advice would you give to other brides?
If you don’t want to hire a wedding planner a “day of coordinator” is a life saver! Your day will flow and your family can focus on the enjoyment of the day vs the little stresses. Breath! Take it all in! If there are specific photos you want prepare a list ahead of time for your photographer.
