Tell us your love story!
We were introduced through my sister and brother in law. At the time, I lived in NW Indiana and he lived in KY so I didn’t really think it was good timing. This didn’t stop my sister and brother in law from teasing us (even though we’d never met) by calling me his future wife and he my future husband. I moved to Owensboro later that year and met him for the first time, and instantly we felt a connection, but time was still not on our side as he had just moved back to Lexington.  We finally got to have our first date and I knew he was “the one”.

How did he propose?
My grandparents own a Christmas Tree Farm in PA so Christmas is my favorite time of the year. We went to Neiman’s Tree Farm here in Lexington the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I was so excited I ran from tree to tree pointing out the merits of each. At each one, Jordan would ask, “Is this the one?” As I turned around to tell him “yes”, he was getting down on one knee saying “because you are the one I want!” He had a photographer hiding in the trees to capture the moment and then photographed us afterwards. The moment was everything I always dreamed it would be and more. Andre captured both the proposal and our big day perfectly.

How did you choose your venue?
We looked at several different venues in Lexington, but Griffin Gate offered the most options. Our package included set-up, dinner service, and cleanup afterwards. I wanted to limit the amount of things to worry about before, during and after the wedding so in addition to the gorgeous views of the golf course (Jordan is a golfer) and the delicious food options, we were sold!

How long were you engaged?
Seven and a half months

What elements were most important for your wedding day to you?
Family. We really just wanted to be surrounded by the people closest to us. My mom passed away from breast cancer when I was five and even though I was blessed with a loving step-mom, I still missed my mom. Jordan knew I wanted to commemorate her in some way, so he surprised me by having a seat on the front row dedicated to her. I didn’t know until I walked down the aisle and was standing at the altar. I was blown away by his thoughtfulness and couldn’t help but cry. It was perfect.

What advice would you give other couples?
Limit you stress. Let’s be honest, you are going to stress but don’t let it define your day. Plan, make you lists, talk to married friends, but once your day arrives, enjoy it!! My then fiancée got to the venue and realized he had forgotten the rings and boutonniere. They went back for the rings, but forgot the boutonniere, so we had to improvise. This is a day about celebrating your love. Will things go wrong? Maybe. But as long as you and your groom meet at the altar, then it will be perfect!
