Love story!
We met in speech class our sophomore year at Belmont University in Nashville, we were both student athletes so we began studying together as we missed opposite days of class. We realized we really liked to hang out, so study dates turned into hang out dates and eventually real dates. We were together for 4.5 years before we got engaged.
How did he propose?
We were back in Nashville for a USA soccer game. Scott surprised with a hiking trip the morning of. We hiked at one of my favorite places, Radner Lake. We stopped at the dock that over looks the lake. He had surprised me with breakfast and mimosas. We sat there awhile waiting for the dock to clear and for my friend to get there to take pictures (he was thoughtful and knew I wanted that) and then he asked me to look at the turtles and when I turned around he was on his knee.
How did you choose your venue?
University of Kentucky Athletics have always been a huge part of our relationship and we spent many hours driving Kroger Field so in a way our relationship developed a lot during those drives. Plus Kroger field has been a huge part of Scott and his families life. Since he was letting me pick most of the wedding things I wanted something special to him.
What elements were most important for your wedding day to you?
That our guest ate well and had fun! I wanted our wedding to be unique as it was at a football field. We didn’t want a cookie cutter wedding. We let our guests play on the field and had soccer balls and footballs. We wanted it to be fun!
What advice would you give to other brides?
Don’t get caught up in all the details and don’t sweat it if things don’t go as planned. After the wedding you won’t care about those details. You will care about marrying your partner and how loved you are by friends and family
