Tell us your love story!

Kreigh and I met at Georgetown College. We fell deeply in love, and fast! After we were out of school I came home one evening and when I opened up the door I found our entire living room set had been moved out of the living room. Kreigh had a path of candles from the door to where he stood in dress shoes, dark washed jeans and a suit jacket. When he asked me to marry him, there were tears and smiles and a bottle of our favorite wine. After the moment set in, he took me to Dudley’s on Short for a celebration dinner.

What elements were most important for your wedding day?

It was very important that we were married in the church since we both grew up in church. We really wanted to convey through the service that we were going into this with biblical standards. The wall piece that my brother made for us may be my favorite aspect of that element. We have it hanging in our home now and though it may mean little to others, the passage and the moment behind it from the ceremony mean everything to us.

My grandfather passed away at the start of our relationship and his grandmother passed away as well. To keep them involved, we had each of their wedding bands tied to the Bible that our ring bearer carried down the aisle instead of our own.

Lastly, throughout the entire process, I would always say that second to the groom, my photographer was the most important thing to me on my wedding day. In relation to her, it was so important to me that we used only small business owners. There is true art and value when you work directly with a local business. The heart and soul they put into their work is a type of quality that truly goes unmatched.

What advice would you give other brides?

Oh my, there is so much advice running through my mind! I think the most important thing is to not go at it alone. If you are like us and do not have family around to take care of meetings, decisions, etc., I recommend having a wedding coordinator. At the very least, have a planner there for rehearsal and the day of the wedding.
