Our Love Story:
Beau and I went to Centre College and during our time there, we had similar friend groups and knew each other by association. A few years after we graduation, I noticed that Beau and I were friends on social media. I messaged him. He responded and we became inseparable. After years of only being acquaintances, we finally got to know each other. Two weeks later, he told me he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. When you know, you know!

How did Beau propose?
I thought it was going to be a normal Saturday when Beau suggested we go hiking. When we left, I did not pay much attention to where we were going and when I finally realized we weren’t headed the usual way, he said “you’ll see.”

We were at the top of Chained Rock and while I was taking in the views of the scenery, Beau was digging in his backpack. When I heard the rustling of his backpack end, I turned around and he was on one knee with the most beautiful diamond ring. He had his brother hidden taking pictures and our families were waiting in a lodge to celebrate.

How long were you engaged?
About a year, Beau is in the Air Force and we wanted to be married before we moved to his station in Mississippi.

How did you choose your venue?
Beau and I love nature and being outdoors. I knew I would need to pick a venue that could offer both indoor and outdoor options in case the weather did not cooperate. Talon Winery fit those qualifications and had the rustic look I wanted for the wedding.

What elements were most important for your wedding day?
The ceremony and our guest experience were the most important elements of our day. With the ceremony we wanted it to be personal and intimate with our own vows. We also wanted everyone to have fun and enjoy his or her day.

What advice would you give to other brides?
Do not stress about the little details! When planning, try to focus on how you want the entire feel of the wedding to be, not just the look. Keep in mind that it is your wedding and stay true to yourself. Your wedding is a reflection of you and your groom, not other friends or family. If the budget allows, hire a wedding planner. I cannot imagine pulling off the wedding without the help of mine.
