Tell us your love story. How did you meet, how long have you been together, etc…?
We have known each other for about 18 years. His sister and I became friends in high school, he was her little brother and I was her crazy friend. We just never thought of each other in that way, we did go on one date in 2010 but nothing ever came of it. Time went on and we reconnected in 2015 and have been together ever since.
How did he propose?
He proposed in our kitchen right before Valentine’s Day after I gave him a bottle of Blanton’s bourbon. I should have given him that bottle months ago!
How did you choose your venue?
The Prizing House is located right in our home town and we both knew as soon as we stepped inside that we wanted to be married there. The house has original wooden floors and chandeliers that are from old hotels that used to be in downtown Cynthiana. We both thought it was a classically beautiful building!
How long were you engaged?
We were engaged for seven months.
What elements were most important for your wedding day to you?
It was very important to me to get a runner with a message to my dad. I am the baby of the family and the only girl so David and I decided that was something we wanted to make extra special. At the reception, because David is a bourbon aficionado, we had bourbon bottles with fairy lights as centerpieces. It was important to us because it was a nod as to how David proposed. Finally, it was important that we had a time capsule where everyone would write a message to us to open at a later date.
What advice would you give to other brides?
Use Simply Love Studios, Sarah made what could have been a very stressful event so effortless. I cannot thank her enough! Also, get an amazing photographer and videographer, it was worth every penny. Lastly, do not be afraid to make your wedding your own, the small details will be the things you remember.
