Tell us your love story. How did you meet, how long have you been together, etc…
Jay and I first met our sophomore year of college at the University of Kentucky during intramural flag football season. We were both involved in the Christian Student Fellowship so we saw each other all the time. Soon, we were best friends and started dating a few months later. We dated for two years before getting engaged in December, and eight months later we were married!
How did he propose?
Jay, with the help of friends and family, lined the trail outside his parent’s house with white Christmas lights. They set up a white tent at the end of the trail and had a table with hot chocolate and gingerbread men. He walked me over to the table and got down on one knee! Afterwards, he surprised me by having my family and friends show up to celebrate with us.
How did you choose your venue?
The moment we arrived at Saxony Farm we knew that it was where we wanted to get married. The beautiful horse farm was perfect for us, since we both call Kentucky home. The owners made the choice even easier for us because they were so incredible to work with!
How long were you engaged?
8 months
What elements were most important for your wedding day to you?
It was very important to us that all of our friends and family be there to celebrate with us. That is why Jay was so adamant that we got married before Kentucky’s football season started.
What advice would you give other brides?
Try not to stress too much about all of the details because at the end of the day you get to marry your best friend!
