Tell us your love story!
Joe and I met on an online dating app, we spoke online for over a year before we got to meet in person. We would always give each other quizzes and challenge each other’s intelligence. When we finally met in person, Joe was just as fun as he was on the phone and in messages. We had an instant connection and bonded over our weird interests and personalities, and now we have been together for almost four years.
How did he propose?
I collected mystery vinyl figures and Joe would often come and surprise me with one when he would take a trip to the grocery store. One day when he gave me one I thought nothing of it, but when I opened the box I found a Helzberg diamond box. Then, Joe got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
How did you choose your venue?
Joe and I were big fans of the HBO series “Game of Thrones,” and I was a big fan of the Showtime show “The Tudors,” which got us interested in Renaissance Faires. We visited the Kentucky Highland Renaissance Faire in Eminence, Kentucky and on the drive back we passed the Kentucky Castle. We both gasped and knew that it was the perfect venue for a wedding.
How long were you engaged?
13 Months
What elements were most important for your wedding day to you?
Capturing our style was very important to me because I did not want to settle for a traditional wedding, I always knew I wanted a black wedding dress and a dark theme. Having fun and not letting structure or obligations get in the way of truly enjoying ourselves was also very critical for us.
What advice would you give to other brides?
My biggest piece of advice for brides is to not get discouraged when trying to achieve your dream wedding theme. Don’t let others crush your dream. Have a big weird, wedding that is perfect for you and you won’t regret it.
