Tell us your love story!
Hunter and I met our freshman year at Morehead State University. One of the benefits of attending a small school is that word can easily get around! Hunter found out that I had been asking about him and we talked here and there, but nothing serious. During Winter Break, Hunter asked me to a UK game and we hit it off. The rest is truly history. When we arrived back on campus, we were joined at the hip. We were the definition of best friends. Here we are, six years later, husband and wife.
How did Hunter propose?
Hunter and I traveled to Nassau, Bahamas to watch the University of Kentucky Men’s Basketball Team play a series of exhibition games. On our free day, we swam with dolphins at the resort we were staying. At the very end, everyone in the entire pool, even those swimming with other dolphins, formed a line to watch the dolphins do tricks together. The catch? Every dolphin was doing tricks except for my and Hunter’s dolphin, Noah. At the end, Noah swam directly to me underwater and came up with a script saying, “Will you marry me?” I turned around and there was Hunter on one knee.
How did you choose your venue?
We wanted something classic and something that had a lot of history to it. When we stumbled upon Berry Hill Mansion, it was truly the hidden gem we had been looking for.
How long were you engaged?
We were in no rush, and we wanted the wedding of our dreams. We were engaged a little over two years.
What elements were most important for your wedding day?
Our color scheme, my dress, and our photographer were most important to me. I knew for years I wanted a black and ivory wedding because I think they’re timeless colors.
What advice would you give other brides?
Don’t rush it and don’t settle because hopefully, this is your one-shot at having your dream wedding. I can’t say enough kind words or thank our vendors enough for their service, flexibility, and for turning our vision into a reality.
